After more than a month of racing, today (23rd Jul), former London Mayor Boris Johnson is officially elected as the new leader of the Conservative Party and became the next UK Prime Minister.

His election has led to some discomfort among some ministers. Two have already resigned and some other claimed that they will turn in their resignation upon Boris’s election.

This morning, Hong Kong movie star Simon Yam was stabbed by an attacker during a promotional event at Zhongshang, Guangdong.

任达华可能认为该袭击者是一名粉丝，并未闪躲。而袭击者走进任达华后就抽刀刺向他的腹部，并在任达华后退躲闪时继续挥刀，恶意满满。
Mr. Yam may think the attacker was a fan, hence did not evade at first. When the attacker approached, he drew his knife and stabbed to Mr. Yam’s abdomen area. He continued wielding his knife when Mr. Yam stepped back, reflecting his vicious intention.

当地时间18日上午10时35分，日本京都市的动画制作公司“京都动画”第一工作室发生火灾。
Local time 10:35 am 18th Jul, a fire broke out at a studio 1 of an animation company in Kyoto Japan, ‘KyoAni’.

目前已确定死亡人数为33，更是有数十人受伤。此次火灾被定性为平成以来最恶劣的事件。
So far, there are 33 confirmed deaths and dozens injured in this incident. This fire is referred to as the most vicious event since the Heisei era.

After more than a month of protests surrounding the extradition bill, the protest today (17th Jul) is a little bit different.

不同之处是，这次游行的发起人和主要参与人士都是年长人士。这次游行被称为“银发族静默游行”。他们高举“支持青年，守护香港”的横幅，与年青一代一同争取对香港政府的五项诉求。
The difference being, the organizers and main participants are all senior citizens. This protest is referred to as ‘silver hair protest’. They held up banners printed ‘support the youth, protest Hong Kong’, standing with the youths to fight for the five demands to the Hong Kong government.

据她称，这次修例“完全失败”，这项条例“已死”，希望香港市民可以给她和政府机会和时间来把香港带出目前的困境并改善现状。
According to her, this work on the Bill had been a ‘total failure’ and the extradition bill is ‘dead’. She asked the public to allow the government and herself the opportunity and time to ‘take Hong Kong out of the current impasse and try to improve the current situation’.

Although Hong Kong government has paused on passing the extradition bill, some of the demands from the protestors are not met yet, including permanently withdrawing the said bill, releasing protestors in custody, redefine the protest from ‘riot’, and etc..

According to Hong Kong’s Ming Pao, there is another protest today (7th July) from a park at Tsim Sha Tsui to West Kowloon railway terminus.
