美国已经在3天前（5月10日）开始，把从中国进口的2000亿美元商品的关税从10%上调到25%。对于一直观望中美贸易协商的我们来说，美国这一举措真的是突如其来。
3 days ago (10th May), the US has already raised the tariffs from 10% to 25% on $200 billion worth of goods imported from China. As bystanders who have been following the trade negotiations, this move really came out of nowhere.

而在今天之前，中方的反应一直是平淡无奇的。中方发言人多次宣称中美贸易协商“并没有破裂”，即使这和美方的声明和举措相矛盾。
Up till today, China has not made any active reactions. Its spokesperson stressed that the trade negotiations ‘did not break off’, which contradicts to what the US has been saying and doing.

就在两周前，中方和美方还都表示对贸易协商的进展很满意。谁能想到，两周之后的局势会变得这么扑朔迷离。
Just about two weeks ago, both China and the US expressed their confidence towards the trade-deal negotiations. Who would have thought that the situations changed so dramatically now?

星期天5月5号，美国总统特朗普发推文，指控中方试图重新协商。因此他准备从10号起，对价值2000亿美元的中国商品进行关税上调，从10%到25%。
US President Donald Trump sent out a tweet on 5th May. He accused China of trying to renegotiate. Hence, he planned to raise tariffs from 10% to 25% on $200 billion worth of Chinese commodities since the 10th of May.

Local time around 6 pm on 5th May, a Russian passenger plane caught fire shortly after take-off and was forced to an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport. The plane was scheduled to take off at Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow towards North-western city Murmansk.

本周末，巴勒斯坦伊斯兰抵抗势力向以色列境内发射了600余枚火箭。虽然大部分被拦截，但仍然有3位以色列人死于此次事件。
Over this weekend, Palestinian militants have fired more than 600 rockets into Israeli territory. Although most were intercepted, there are still 3 Israelis died over this incident.

以色列随后反击，并击中了加沙地带的260多个目标。以方声明他们的反击防止了更“大规模”的袭击。而巴方表示，自星期五以来，已有9名巴勒斯坦人死于反击。
Israel retaliated soon after and hit 260 targets in the Gaza Strip. Israel says that their fire-back has prevented further ‘massive’ strikes, while Palestine says that 9 Palestinians have been killed from the fire-back since Friday.

美国佛罗里达州当地时间5月3日21时，一架从古巴起飞的波音737客机在杰克逊维尔国际机场降落。降落时该机冲出跑道，滑入附近的圣约翰河，浮在水面。
Local time around 9 pm on 3rd May, a Boeing 737 passenger plane from Cuba lands at Jacksonville International Airport in Florida, US. During the landing, the plane rushed off the runway and skidded into the nearby St John’s River, but fortunately, it did not sink.

Around mid-April, the Justice Department of America revealed the college admissions scandal that shocked the world. Top universities such as Yale and Stanford are also implicated in the scandal.

今天，第九起爆炸发生在科伦坡市的一座教堂附近。炸弹在警察尝试解除它的时候爆炸了，目前我们尚未得知是否有伤亡。
The 9th explosion happened on Monday near a church in Colombo. The police were attempting to defuse the bomb when it went off. Whether there are casualties is not clear yet.

今天，斯里兰卡多地一共发生了八起连环爆炸。其中六起发生在酒店或者教堂附近，包括首都的三间高级酒店、科伦坡市的两座教堂和东部城市拜蒂克洛的一座教堂。截止到现在，已造成至少450人受伤、207人死亡。

Today, a total of 8 explosions are reported at multiple locations in Sri Lanka. Six of the explosions happened at near hotels or churches, including three luxury hotels in the capital city, two churches in Colombo and one church at Batticaloa. Up until now, at least 450 people are hurt and 207 are killed in the explosions.
