There are two presidential candidates competing a close match in this election, current president Joko Widodo and opposition Mr. Prabowo. After the voting closed on 18th Apr, both parties announced that their own fast calculations show that they will win.

15th Mar, an astonishing mass shooting fell upon two Mosques in New Zealand, caused by a 28-year-old Australian Brenton Tarrant. 51 were killed and many were injured during this tragedy. This attack was the most serious terrorist attack in the history of New Zealand.

这起事件后，新西兰通过了非常严密的控枪法案，禁止新西兰国内使用军用半自动步枪与突击步枪。
After this tragedy, New Zealand passed a stricter gun-control law, banning military-style semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles to prevent any such thing happening again.

The senate at Alabama state just passed a bill which approves a near-total ban on abortion. In this bill, abortion cannot be conducted at any stage of pregnancy, including illegal forms of impregnation such as rape and incest. Unless the pregnancy poses a serious risk to the woman’s health, the child must be born.

3 days ago (10th May), the US has already raised the tariffs from 10% to 25% on $200 billion worth of goods imported from China. As bystanders who have been following the trade negotiations, this move really came out of nowhere.

Up till today, China has not made any active reactions. Its spokesperson stressed that the trade negotiations ‘did not break off’, which contradicts to what the US has been saying and doing.

Local time around 6 pm on 5th May, a Russian passenger plane caught fire shortly after take-off and was forced to an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo Airport. The plane was scheduled to take off at Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow towards North-western city Murmansk.
