当地时间8月28号，英国首相Boris Johnson刚刚放了一大招，限制议会对脱欧方案进行讨论的时间。
Local time 28th Aug, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson just made a huge move by limiting the time for MPs to discuss over Brexit.

正在休假的英国议会原定于九月初复会，而首相的决策会把复会时间延迟到10月14号，与原定10月31号的脱欧时间相差仅仅两余周，并不足以做出任何实质性改动。
The Parliament, currently on vacation, was scheduled to reconvene in the start of September, whereas the Prime Minister’s decision will postpone the reconvene to 14th Oct, which is just a bit more than 2 weeks before the scheduled Brexit date. This amount of time is not enough to make any actual decisions.

A baby girl under the age of two was hit by a mirror, which might be knocked down over by another child. The baby girl was unconscious on the spot and could not stop bleeding. Although the store assistant performed CPR and the girl was quickly sent to the hospital by paramedics, she eventually lost her young life.

The world's largest tropical rainforest, the Brazilian Amazon forest with the title of 'Lung of the Earth' is experiencing the most frequent fires on record. The Brazilian National Space Agency (INPE) said on the 20th that more than 72,000 fires have occurred in the Amazon rainforest this year, and the number of records has reached a record high. The sprawling forest fires have become the global focus, and leaders of all countries have expressed concern.

中方与23日晚宣布了对价值750亿美元的美国进口产品加税，美国总统特朗普称将对价值2500亿美元的从中国进口的产品也加税，从25%上调至30%，10月1日起效。
China has announced on the night of 23rd Aug that it will post additional tariffs on 75 billion dollar worth of imports from the US. Then, US President Trump declared that ‘starting on October 1st, the 250 billion dollars of goods and products from China currently being taxed at 25% will be taxed at 30%.’

The British Consulate in Hong Kong is suspected of being detained by the Chinese side. The British Foreign Ministry is seriously concerned.
英国驻中国大使馆得悉，一名受雇于英国驻香港总领事馆的香港居民据报遭中国当局扣留，目前原因不明。英国外交部“严重关切”该名雇员从广东深圳返回香港时被拘留的消息，大使馆正向其家属提供协助，并向中国广东省与香港当局索取进一步资讯。

《联合早报》今早接获消息，资深艺人白言今天凌晨3时在医院过世，享年100岁。孙女Jenny表示，白言10天前因肺炎入院，今凌晨安详离世，家属陪在身边。白言的灵堂设于新加坡殡仪馆，本周五（8月23日）早上10时40分出殡。明天起开放让公众吊唁。
"Lianhe Zaobao" received news this morning, senior artist Bai Yan died at the hospital at 3 am today, at the age of 100. Granddaughter Jenny said that Bai Yan was admitted to the hospital 10 days ago because of pneumonia. He died in the early morning and his family stayed with him.
Bai Yan’s mourning hall is located at the Singapore Funeral Parlour and will be released at 10:40 am this Friday (August 23). Open tomorrow for the public to condolence

This year's National Day Mass Conference was held on Sunday (18th) at the Ang Mo Kio Institute of Technology Education.
