The British Embassy in China has learned that a Hong Kong resident employed by the British Consulate General in Hong Kong has reportedly been detained by the Chinese authorities for unknown reasons. The British Foreign Ministry was "seriously concerned" about the detention of the employee when he returned to Hong Kong from Shenzhen, Guangdong. The Embassy is providing assistance to his family and requesting further information from the Guangdong Province and Hong Kong authorities.
