US President Donald Trump threatened on Monday (May 19) to permanently cancel American funding to the World Health Organization (WHO) and revoke U.S. membership if the group does not “commit to major substantive improvements” within the next 30 days.
自从2月开始，他多次指责世卫组织，声称该组织以中国为重，并对新冠病毒疫情做出了隐瞒。
He has been repeated blaming the WHO since February, accusing the organization is China-centred and assisted in covering up the COVID-19 pandemic.
美国政府对这次疫情的应对受到了多方指责，一部分人认为他做出指责是为了转移公众视线，为10月的总统大选积攒人气。
Some people see his accusation as attempts to shift blame away from his administration’s handling of the virus and gaining popularity before the presidential election in October.
