The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir turned in his resignation to Malaysia’s King at 1 pm today (Feb 24). After gaining an audience with the King, his resignation has been accepted, as verified by the Chief Secretary to the government.

This is the second time that 95-year-old Mahathir served his government as Prime Minister. The first time was from 1981 to 2003. The second time was in 2018 when he led the ruling Pakatan Harapan into victory in the election. He swore in office on May 10 on May 10 the same year.
马哈迪会在新的首相被选出并上任之前继续领导内阁。所有部长的任命也因此暂停，即刻生效。
Mahathir will continue to run the country’s administration until a new prime minister is appointed. All ministerial appointments were also cancelled with effect immediately.
