Earlier this month, a ban regarding the use of e-scooters was published by the Singapore government, which will greatly affect a lot of food delivery men who are using e-scooters in the course of their work.
E-scooters are the first choice for most of the food delivery men. A recent study has shown that ‘half the food delivery riders and ride-hailing drivers here earn a monthly household per capita income of $1500 or less’. The ban mentioned above will be a burden to their livelihood.
A group of NUS students have prepared a letter and posted it on social media after gathering signed support of more than 100 people. The letter asks the government to keep communicating with food delivery riders and improve parts of the ban to help the food delivery riders.
