教育部长王乙康今天出席母语学习论坛时透露这项计划。他指出，教育部去年在14所小学试行华文辅助计划，以及在10所小学试行马来文或淡米尔文辅助计划，取得良好的进展。从后年起，在24所小学试行的母语辅助计划将扩大到所有小学，让学习能力较弱的的小三学生以五到八人的小班形式学习。
Education Minister Wang Yikang revealed the plan when he attended the Mother Tongue Learning Forum today. He pointed out that the Ministry of Education had made good progress in the trial of the Chinese Aid Scheme in 14 primary schools last year and the trial of the Malay or Tamil auxiliary programs in 10 primary schools. From the year following, the mother-tongue program, which will be piloted in 24 primary schools, will be extended to all primary schools, allowing juniors with weaker learning ability to study in small classes of five to eight.
