6月17日晚10时55分，中国四川省宜宾市长宁县发生了6.1级地震，震源深度16千米。随后一直到18日傍晚，附近地区一直在发生3级左右的余震。
10:55 pm, 17th June, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 fell upon Changning county, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. The depth of this earthquake is 16 km.
Until 18th evening, there have been multiple aftershocks in nearby regions.
尽管消防、武警等部门紧急行动，展开救援工作，但是此次震级高，连续的余震、凌晨的大雨也为救援工作造成了阻碍。目前，地震已造成了13人死亡，200人受伤。
Although fire, police and many other departments acted quickly to save and rescue, this earthquake is one of the biggest in recent years, the constant aftershocks and a big rain in early morning caused some difficulties to the save-and-rescue mission. So far, there has been 13 deaths and 200 injuries.
在此次震后收到极大关注的是成都高新减灾研究所开发的地震预警系统。该系统在震前数十秒前就像成都主城区的众多地方发送了地震预警，提醒市民紧急避难。几十秒看起来很短，但在天灾面前却极有可能挽救众多生命，简直是一根“救命稻草”。
The alarming system, which is developed by Chengdu Gaoxin Disaster Reduction Institute, received lots of attention. It sent earthquake alarms tens of seconds before the earthquake to multiple locations in Chengdu central district to warn citizens to seek refuge. It may seem short, but it may save hundreds of lives in an earthquake.
