Background: Ms. Zhang Yingying is a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois. She disappeared on 9th June 2017. Surveillance camera revealed her entering the vehicle of suspect Brendt Christensen and she was never seen since.

After her disappearance, the police quickly put suspect Christensen into custody. However, the suspect has been denying all the charges and try to escape the death penalty on ‘mental insanity’ reason. Yingying’s body is still not found until now.
最后，于当地时间6月3日，这一个耸人听闻的案件终于正式开庭审理。
On 3rd June, this gruesome case is finally open for trial.
在6月12日的庭审上，杀害章莹颖的被告克里斯滕森终于承认他强奸并杀害了章莹颖。据被告说，在可怜的莹颖上车后，被告把她带到自己的公寓，在那里对莹颖进行了强奸、殴打，在最后割下了她的头。在这一系列罪行后，被告进一步藏匿了尸体并对公寓和车进行了彻底地清理。但是，天网恢恢，最后调查人员还是找到了血迹，经过DNA测试证实属于章莹颖。
On 12th June, the defendant finally confessed to raping and murdering Ms. Zhang. According to him, he took poor Yingying to his apartment after she went in his car, where he raped, beaten Yingying and lastly cut off her head. After this series of crimes, the defendant hid Yingying’s body and performed a thorough cleaning on his apartment and vehicle, but the investigators still managed to find traces of blood in his apartment with DNA matched to Yingying.
直到现在，被告还在坚持无罪辩述。
However, the defendant is still doing a ‘non-guilty’ plea.
这场审判会持续两个月之久。逝者已逝，希望这个禽兽不如的犯罪者会得到应有的惩罚，而莹颖的家人能在尘埃落定后得到少许的安慰。
