5月16日，世界著名的华裔建筑大师（jiànzhù dàshī – architect giant）贝聿铭去世，享年102岁。
16th May 2019, world-renown architect l M Pei passed away at the age of 102.
也许你并不熟悉他的名字，但是你肯定听说过他这些世界各地的建筑作品，甚至亲临其境打过卡。其中包括：美国国家美术馆东馆、法国巴黎卢浮宫外的地标——玻璃金字塔、中国苏州的苏州博物馆、卡塔尔多哈的伊斯兰教艺术博物馆、新加坡的莱福士广场，等等许多。
You may not be familiar to his name, but you must have heard some of his designs, or even taken pictures personally at these places, which include East Wing of the National Museum in the U.S., the iconic Louvre pyramid in France, Suzhou Museum in China, Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, Raffles Place in Singapore, and many more.
贝聿铭是一名美籍华裔建筑师。生于广州，长大在香港和上海，然后在18岁是移居到美国并先后在麻省理工学院和哈佛大学就读建筑学，贝先生的建筑作品在古典特色的基础上充分发挥了现代主义（xiàndài zhǔyì - modernism）风格，被尊称为“现代建筑的最后大师”。
Mr. Pei was borne in Guangzhou, China. He grew up in Hong Kong and Shanghai, then moved to the U.S. to pursue Architecture at MIT and Harvard University at the age of 18. As a pillar of modern architecture, his designs fully expressed modernism style with cubist themes.
贝先生一生的成就充分证明了他的才华。他1981年获得法国建筑学金奖，1989年获得日本帝赏奖，还在1983年荣获了建筑界的最高奖项——普利兹克奖（pǔlìzīkè jiǎng – Pritzker Prize）。
The long list of prizes he received fully proved his talent, amongst which there are the La Grande Medaille d’Or in 1981, the first Praemium Imperiale for Architecture from the Japan Art Association in 1989, and at the highest point, the Pritzker Prize which is often referred to as the Novel Prize of architecture in 1982.
一代大师就此陨落了，我们只能在今后来到他设计的建筑面前时，稍稍驻足，带着最真诚的心情去欣赏他的作品，来缅怀这位把一生贡献给建筑界的老人。
With his passing, now we can only remember him from taking a long, respectful look at his work when we have the privilege of visiting them, even one.
