The senate at Alabama state just passed a bill which approves a near-total ban on abortion. In this bill, abortion cannot be conducted at any stage of pregnancy, including illegal forms of impregnation such as rape and incest. Unless the pregnancy poses a serious risk to the woman’s health, the child must be born.
任何试图进行堕胎手术的医生都将会面临10年的监禁，而那些进行了的将要面对的是99年的终身监禁。不过，做了堕胎手术的孕妇将不会被起诉。
Any doctors attempting to terminate a pregnancy would face 10 years in jail, whereas those who carried out the procedure with face 99 years of sentence. A woman who did the abortion would not be held criminally liable.
这项法案的通过引起了民众的不满。抗议者（kàngyìzhě – n. protestors）们聚集在参议院大楼外面，试图维护男女平等和计划生育，并且希望男人们停止对女性的权益指手画脚。
The pass of this bill sparked outrage amongst many people. Protestors are gathered outside the Senate building, trying to uphold gender equality and planned parenthood, and ask men to stop pointing fingers at women’s right.
值得一提的是，通过这项法案的阿拉巴马参议院一共有35个席位，共和党占多数。而赞成这项法案的25位议员都是男性，该参议院唯四的女性参议院都反对了该项法案。
It is worth mentioning that the Alabama Senate which passed this bill has 35 seats, dominated by Republicans. All 25 senators who vote for this bill are men and the only 4 female senators all voted against this bill.
现在这项法案是否会正式推行，将会由州长Kay Ivey决定。作为一位共和党人，州长一直以坚决反对堕胎的立场而出名。不过，这部法案极大程度上否认了女性的基本权益，不知道作为女性的州长会不会有所动摇。
Now, the decision of whether this bill will be implemented lands on Governor Kay Ivey. As a Republican, the Governor is well-known for her anti-abortion stance. However, as a woman, we do not know whether this bill which terribly infringes women’s right will let the governor have a second thought.

Governor’s spokesperson has stated that the governor will make a decision after thoroughly thinking over this bill. Let us hope that the final result will be fair to all the women.
