The word's original meaning is corruption. However, there is a joke where: 请人吃饭不叫请客，叫，反腐败。
The translation for this is that: 请人吃饭 means "to treat someone to dinner", 不叫请客 means "isn't called treating a guest", 叫反腐败 means "it is called reverse corruption"
Due to the recent anti-corruption campaign by President XI Jinping, there has been a ban and close monitoring of civil servants giving and receiving gifts as it may now constitute as a bribe. Therefore, now many use dinner as a way of bribing people such as treating them to extravagant dinner -- which is why the joke was created. Instead of just merely treating someone for dinner, it may now seem like a form of bribing and corruption.
