一带一路（yīdàiyīlù）是由中国政府在2013年提出的。它涵盖（hángài, covers）了亚洲、欧洲、非洲多个国家和地区，旨在（zhǐzài, the purpose being）完善（wánshàn, make perfect and complete）区域（qūyù, region）基础设施（jīchǔsh34shī, basic infrastructure）并且加强投资（tóuzī, investment）以促进（cùjìn, promote）经济发展。
The “Belt & Road Initiative was adopted by the Chinese government in 2013. It involves countries and regions in Asia, Europe and Africa. The objective of the initiative is to promote economic boost through improved regional infrastructure and increased investments.
自2014年“一带一路”的提出以来，它已得到了多方关注。谁能想到，它会成为中美贸易战的重要切入点（qiērùdiǎn, cut-in point, breakthrough point）之一。
Since the Annunciation of the “Belt & Road initiative” in 2014, it has attracted attention from all over the world. Who would have thought that it would become an important point in the China-US trade war.
在刚刚结束的APEC峰会中，中国主席习近平和美国副总统麦克彭斯就这一政策发表了十分坚定又截然不同（jiéránbùtóng, contrasting, totally different）的看法。
During the recent APEC summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US vice president Mike Pence expressed firm yet totally different views on this policy.
彭斯批评（pīpíng, criticise）这一项目为“束缚带（shùfùdài, restricting belt）”和“单行路（dānxínglù, one-way road）”。
Pence criticised this initiative as “constricting belt” and “one-way road”.
而习近平则申明（shēnmíng, state）一带一路不会针对（zhēnduì, target, point out）或排除（páichú, exclude）任何国家，也不会有所谓的“陷阱（xiànjǐng, trap）”。
While Xi Jinping states that this initiative will neither target or exclude any countries nor have so-called “traps”.
两位国际大佬的这一捧一杀（yīpěngyīshā, one praises and the other one kills）真的是把我们这些局外人（júwàirén, outsiders）搞得头昏脑涨（tóuhūnnǎozhàng, head disorientated and brain tired），猜想那些一带一路涉及到（shèjídào, involves）的国家也应该是进退两难（jìntuìliǎngnán, go forward and backward both difficult, in a dillema）吧！
These contradicting statements from two of the most significant figures in the international communities really make us outsiders totally confused. I assume the countries involved in the initiative should be stuck in quite a conundrum.
