In the recent budget debate, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong shared a set of data:
自从2010年以来，新加坡的国家医疗支出（guójiā yīliáo zhīchū – national healthcare spending）从110亿新币涨到了2016年的210亿新币，几乎翻了两倍。
Since 2010, Singapore’s national healthcare spending has almost doubled, from $11 billion to $21 billion in 2016.
而政府健康支出（zhèngfǔ jiankāng zhīchū – government health expenditure）从39亿新币涨到了93亿新币，涨了足足2.4倍。
Government health expenditure increased by 2.4 times, $3.9 billion to $9.3 billion.
颜部长指出，继续增加卫生医疗相关的支出不是长久之选（chángjiǔzhīxuǎn – long term choice）。
Minister Gan points out that it is unsustainable to continue increasing Singapore’s national healthcare expenditure.
