Gǎndòng ma? Bù gǎndòng
感 动 吗? 不 敢 动
Moved? Not dare to move
‘感动’and‘敢动’have the exact same pronunciations, but totally different meanings.
感动 is used to describe the feeling of feeling touched.
敢 means dare to do sth., 动 means to move, act. Hence, 敢动 means to dare to move.
This phrase is used to describe a scenario which seems touching, however, one or more parties completely dominate the situation, leading to the other parties not dare to move.
For example:
Lǎoshī zhěngchǎng kǎoshì zhǐ dīng nǐ yígèrén ō! Gǎndòng ma? —— bùbù, bùgǎndòng
老师整场考试只盯你一个人噢!感动吗? —— 不不,不敢动。
The teacher watched you throughout the whole exam! Are you moved? —— No, I am too moved to move (cannot cheat at all)!
