缅甸军方在2月1日逮捕拘留众多民盟领导人的行为受到了当地人民的强烈反抗。周六、周日连续两天，成千上万的民众走上街头进行示威（shìwēi – n. protest）活动，谴责(qiǎnzé – v. to condemn)军方政变(zhèngbiàn – n. coup)并要求释放(shìfàng – v. to release (an imprisoned peron))昂山素季等人。
缅甸军方于周五晚断掉了该国的网络连接。尽管网络周日下午得到了恢复(huīfù – v. to restore)，但许多社交网站仍无法正常访问。
