2017年的章莹颖失踪案终于在今年6月12月开庭。在9天的庭审后，于当地时间6月24日下午2点，该案的陪审团终于判定嫌疑犯克里斯滕森的绑架谋杀罪名成立。
The trial regarding Zhang Yingying’s disappearance finally started on 12th June. After nine days of trial, the jury finally found suspect Christensen guilty for the abduction and murder of Zhang Yingying at local time 2 pm, 24th June.
整个庭审过程中，陪审团一共听取了35名证人的证言。最终，除了绑架并导致章莹颖死亡的罪名，陪审团还判定了两项对联邦调查局撒谎、作伪证的罪名成立。
Throughout the trial, the jury listened to the testimony of 35 witnesses. In the end, except the charge of kidnap and murder of Yingying, the jury also found him guilty on two more charges of lying and perjuring to FBI agents on two occasions.
量刑阶段的庭审将于7月8号开始，预计历时两周。该案的检方寻求被告被判死刑，当然辩方将会争取降到无期徒刑。
Sentencing procedures will commence from 8th July, expected to last for two weeks. The prosecutor is fighting for a death sentence, of course, the defense attorneys will push for life imprisonment.
如果克里斯滕森可以被判决死刑，前提是12名陪审员必须是一致同意该判决。即使有一名陪审员不认同死刑，他的判决都将是无期徒刑。
All twelve jurors must unanimously agree to the death sentence for it to be passed. Even if only one juror disapproves of the death penalty, the sentence will at best be life imprisonment.
目前，考虑到案件证据、陪审团意见等等因素，死刑判决可能是比较困难的。不过希望最后美国司法系统会还受害人和家属一个公道。
At this moment, considering the evidence, jury and other elements, a death penalty might be difficult. Let us hope that eventually, the US judicial system will make a fair punishment to the convict on behalf of the Yingying and her family.
