18日中午1时，台湾东部发生了规模达6.1级的地震，地震中央位于花莲县秀林乡。海峡对面的中国大陆的众多省市都有震感，包括福建、江苏、浙江、安徽和上海。
A strong earthquake with a registered magnitude of 6.1 shook the east of Taipei around 1 pm local time on 18th Apr. The center of the earthquake is near Hualian county. Multiple provinces and city in mainland China also have detectable traits and feelings of the earthquake, including Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, and Shanghai.
一共有17人因地震受伤。地震发生时，两人位来自日本的游客正在登山，余下15人处于两座受影响较大的建筑物内。目前没有死亡。
There are a total of 17 people injured due to the earthquake. During the earthquake, two Japanese tourists were mountain-climbing with the remaining 15 people was in two buildings which sustained structural damage. Currently, there is no death.
台北捷运系统在震后暂停营运以便进行检测，并且一条横穿台湾的主路因有泥石流的风险同样被关闭。
The city temporarily suspended all subway services in order to conduct inspections. The main road traversing central Taiwan was also closed due to the threat for landslides.
据台湾气象局称，未来两周内极有可能发生余震，不排除有规模5以上的地震。并且由于近日台湾山区降雨频繁，为了防止土石滑落受伤，民众应尽量避免前往山区；如需前往，切要小心。
According to the Central Weather Bureau, there is a high chance of after-shocks in the next two weeks, not excluding those with a magnitude above 5. Since there have been frequent rains in mountain regions, the public should try to stay clear from the mountains to prevent injuries due to landslides.
