Most of them have something in common, you may have guessed, is ‘xiéyīn’, which refers to different characters sounds the same or similar.
这些食物本身或者它们的做法中，都有个别字词和另一些吉祥的词汇听起来相同或相近，所以它们才可以荣登“年夜饭必备菜”之榜。
These dishes themselves or their recipes all contain some vocabularies sound the same or alike to a few prosperous phrases. That is why they can make it up the list of ‘necessities in the New Year Feast’.
4. 发菜和生菜 —— 分别谐音“发财”和“生财”。吃点发菜或者生菜，明年赚大钱！

8. 猪手 —— “发财就手”是一道广东美食，在南方地区比较流行。它意味着做什么事情都可以发财！
‘zhūshǒu’pigs trotters: ‘fācáijiùshǒu’ is a Cantonese delicacy and is more common in southern regions. It represents that you can make money doing basically anything!
