明月几时有，
míng yuè jǐ shí yǒu ，
When will the moon be clear and bright?
把酒问青天。
bǎ jiǔ wèn qīng tiān 。
With a cup of wine in my hand, I ask the blue sky.
不知天上宫阙， 今夕是何年。
bú zhī tiān shàng gōng què ， jīn xī shì hé nián 。
I don't know what season it would be in the heavens on this night.
我欲乘风归去,
wǒ yù chéng fēng guī qù ,
I'd like to ride the wind to fly home.
又恐琼楼玉宇， 高处不胜寒，
yòu kǒng qióng lóu yù yǔ ， gāo chù bú shèng hán ，
Yet I fear the crystal and jade mansions are much too high and cold for me
起舞弄清影，
qǐ wǔ nòng qīng yǐng ，
Dancing with my moon-lit shadow
何似在人间。
hé sì zài rén jiān 。
It does not seem like the human world
转朱阁，低绮户，
zhuǎn zhū gé ，dī qǐ hù ，
The moon rounds the red mansion Stoops to silk-pad doors
照无眠。 不应有恨，
zhào wú mián 。 bú yīng yǒu hèn ，
Shines upon the sleepless Bearing no grudge
何事长向别时圆。
hé shì zhǎng xiàng bié shí yuán 。
Why does the moon tend to be full when people are apart?
人有悲欢离合，
rén yǒu bēi huān lí hé ，
People may have sorrow or joy, be near or far apart
月有阴晴圆缺，
yuè yǒu yīn qíng yuán quē ，
The moon may be dim or bright, wax or wane
此事古难全。
cǐ shì gǔ nán quán 。
This has been going on since the beginning of time
但愿人长久， 千里共婵娟。
dàn yuàn rén zhǎng jiǔ ， qiān lǐ gòng chán juān 。
May we all be blessed with longevity Though far apart, we are still
able to share the beauty of the moon together
