本周四（2月20日），英国保守党伦敦市长候选人贝利发的一条推特引起极大争议。推文中说：“伦敦可以主办2020奥运会。我们具备基础设施也有经验。因为新冠病毒疫情爆发，全世界也许会需要我们担起重任。作为市长，我会确保伦敦准备好应对需求，再一次主办奥运会。”
A tweet sent by Conservative Party London candidate Shaun Baily this Thursday (Feb 20) has raised a lot of discussions. The tweet says, “London can host the Olympics in 2020. We have the infrastructure and the experience. And due to the coronavirus outbreak, the world might need us to step up. As Mayor, I will make sure London is ready to answer the call and host the Olympics again.”

As the host for the 2020 Olympics game, Japan is having a hard time fighting with Coronavirus. There have been a total of 728 cases of confirmed infections and 3 deaths.
不过，东京奥组委会一再强调，原定7月24日开幕的东京奥运会不会取消或延期，强调“没有准备Plan B”。
Nonetheless, the Tokyo Organising Committee has repeatedly stressed that the Tokyo Olympics Games, which should commence on Jul 24, will neither be cancelled nor postponed, and there is no ‘Plan B’.
贝利的推文在日本社交网站上引发众多议论，大部分网友持反对意见。日本议员丸山穗高更是推特上回击，日本最大的感染地“钻石公主号”（船上确诊643例）是英国的游轮，理应英国负责防疫工作。
There are a lot of discussions surrounding Baily’s tweet on Social media in Japan whereas most of the netizens oppose his proposal. Japanese Senator Maruyama Hodaka replied on Tweeter that the main source of infections in Japan, the Princess Diamond Cruise ship (643 confirmed infections on board) is a British Cruise Ship and Britain should step up and take charge of quarantines.
而伦敦的体育官员也称贝利的推文“并非英国或伦敦的态度，而只是市长候选人的表态。”
A sports official in London also said that Baily’s tweet does not represent Britain or London and it merely stands for him as a mayor candidate.
在5月7日的伦敦市长选举中，贝利的民调落后于现任市长萨迪克汗。他的推文有可能仅仅是为了赢得选民的喜爱。
Baily is behind incumbent Mayor Sadiq Khan on polling numbers for the Mayor Election on May 7. His tweet could be a publicity stunt to boost his support rate.
